Colorado Trip
Bob Craig
Since many members were not able to go to Colorado in June due to changes in plans, there might be enough interest to schedule a second trip in July.  If anyone is interested, contact Bob Craig.   The first OSC trip to Colorado left 9 Jun 2001 with just the 1-26.

Soaring in March...
The club soared nearly every weekend in May, and even during  in the middle of one week!

New Members!
OSC picked up two new members in May.  Chris Wilson is a new power pilot who lives in Omaha.  Norm Fuhrmeister  is a seasoned power pilot with time in every thing from DC-3 to Cubs.  Needless to say he has lots of tail dragger time.  Norm lives in Fremont.  Norm and Chris, welcome to Omaha Soaring Club!

Comments from Flight Operations
Jaime Alexander
First I would like to thank all of you who have completed all three of  the Annual Safety Requirements in a timely manner.  I think this has been a worthwhile effort and appreciate your cooperation and response.
Now to an item that has been causing me some concern.  We continue to have a series of incidents that indicate a lack of focus on what we are doing. I'm talking about hangar rash, ropes on fences and things like that which are in themselves easy to dismiss.  But often in aviation a series of small things precede a major incident or accident.  I don't know if there is a linkage as in a decision chain or not, but the warning signs are there.  We need to take heed.  How?  Well, stay focused on what we are doing.
The SOF's need to oversee a well run operation.  Wear the vest.  Plan the sequence of flights.  Be ready when the ship becomes available.  Fly the flight in your mind before getting in the ship.  Have your emergency plans in mind.  Keep abreast of the situation.  Review and critique your performance.  We strive to have fun in what is inherently a dangerous environment.  Let's not let down our guard.
